Japan Destinations
Explore courses offered at Waseda University. Courses are available in both English and Japanese, depending on the department you choose to study within at Waseda.

General Requirement (more requirements found on their website)
  • Applicants must be enrolled at UAF at the time of application, and continuously enrolled until the end of the exchange study period at Waseda University.
  • Applicants must meet the GPA requirement set by Waseda University (often 3.0, which is higher than UAF's minimum). Each department has a different requirement, so be sure to review the website carefully.
  • Admission is either in April (Spring) or September (Fall) with your choice of duration of study, one-semester or one-year. However, some departments have set certain semester of admission/duration of study restrictions. Please refer to the “Note” for each department on the website.
  • Once enrolled in Waseda University, the student is expected to complete the given exchange period. Extension or shortening of period is not permitted.
  • Undergraduate applicants, except those who apply to SILS, must have completed at least 12 years of school education or equivalent in a country other than Japan. SILS applicant must have completed most of the secondary education (6 years) in a non-Japanese educational system.
  • Graduate applicants must have completed 16 years of school education or equivalent in a country other than Japan.

If you wish to apply for this program, the priority deadline is November 1. Please apply through the Japan Program Application. Application may reopen in late-January if further placements are available.

Japanese Studies majors must apply for this program before the November 1 deadline in order for it to be considered towards their degree completion requirement.
