Erica Keiko Iseri, Study Away Advisor and National Student Exchange Coordinator

Erica provides advising for exchange and study abroad students and coordinates the National Student Exchange program at UAF. She provides guidance on placement opportunities and application processes. Erica also serves as a point of contact while the students are away, and facilitates the process of bringing academic credit earned while away back to UAF transcripts. For incoming exchange and study abroad students,  Erica provides academic advising, and helps students adjust to life at UAF.

Personal Profile:
Erica holds two degrees from UAF, a BA in English Literature with a minor in French, and an MFA in Creative Writing. She has traveled to many countries, and lived abroad for several years. Originally from the Los Angeles area, Erica grew up surrounded by cultures from around the world and speaks Japanese fluently. Erica is a dog musher with six sled dogs, and enjoys riding her bicycle year-round.

Nicole Balazs, Administrative Coordinator

Nicole  provides support to the Director of International Programs & Initiatives, and assistance for UAF's exchange and study abroad programs.

Personal Profile: 
Nicole grew up in eastern Nebraska and earned a B.S. in Animal Ecology Interpretation from Iowa State University.  She did an exchange to UAF through the National Student Exchange (NSE) in the spring of 2006, where she met her husband. Upon finishing her degree, she joined her husband on his exchanges to Portland State University (through NSE) and Finnmark University College (in Alta, Norway through north2north), and finally moved back to Fairbanks in 2008. She lives with her husband and two Bernese Mountain Dogs, Phil and Bernie.
