Study Abroad
Study abroad opens up the whole world to you! UAF is affiliated with the following study abroad program providers:
The American Institute for Foreign Study (AIFS)
Academic Programs International (API)
The Institute for Study Abroad (IFSA)
IFSA STATE SCHOOL GRANT
All UAF students (regardless if paying resident, WUE, or nonresident tuition) will automatically receive a $2,000 grant for any IFSA semester program. The grant will be applied to the overall tuition/housing costs during billing. There is no application process; students automatically receive the discount.
International Studies Abroad (ISA)
Knowledge Exchange Institute (KEI)
UAF students earn an automatic $1,000 reduction in program costs with KEI
Study abroad students pay UAF a $50 application fee and a $500 processing fee each semester they are away. Program fees are paid directly to the study abroad program provider, and generally include tuition, room and board, health insurance, internet access, excursions, 24-hour in-country support, mobile phone, and much more. Students are also responsible for their own travel and personal expenses.
Students who apply to one of these study abroad programs may be eligible for affiliate discounts and program scholarships. Many of these providers also offer international internship, volunteer, or service learning opportunities.
Note that you have to apply through the UAF Study Away office IN ADDITION to your study abroad program provider. The study abroad program provider may have separate application fees you will be responsible for.
