There have been significant delays in passport processing due to Covid: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/traveladvisories/ea/passport-covid-19.html. If you are planning to apply for an international program for Spring 2022, keep in mind that you normally need your passport DURING the application process. It is therefore advised that you apply for your passport/renewal as soon as possible and request expedited processing. Department of State is estimating that expedited processing may take as long as 12 weeks.
